RETURN
Marion Piper
15-24th May 2025
The Crypt Gallery
The Close, Norwich
Press Release
For her first solo exhibition in Norwich Marion Piper presents a sequence of paintings for RETURN at the Crypt Gallery, which is situated in the Cathedral Close. Just over thirty works on canvas were made during the past two years for this specific vaulted medieval space.
With her long held interest in early Italian Renaissance painting and through her geometric drawing process Piper explore rhythms, narrative loops and spaces; both real and imaginary. The paintings with their grey grounds play host to colourful forms which she finds by employing semi-circles within a gridded surface.
RETURN is supported by NCAS Small Grants programme.
The exhibition is open daily (except Sundays) 11am-4pm. There will be an informal artist talk in the gallery on Saturday 24th May at 2pm, no booking required.
Accessibility details, please note there is a short flight of steep stairs to access the building.
